In Memoriam ~ Carol Joy (Egan) Groves
Carol Joy (Egan) Groves was born in Cleveland, OH and raised in Dearborn, Michigan where she married Bob Groves and adopted two children Timothy and Susan. The couple later had a daughter Katherine “KC” Groves.
Carol was a beloved public school teacher for 35 years, a voracious reader, watercolor painter, and knitter of many pairs of perfect socks.
Her best quality was her ability to form fast friendships at any age and maintain them, some friendships lasting 8 decades. She had a certain sparkle and whit that drew people to her.
Carol spent her winters in Las Cruces since the 90’s and eventually she and Bob moved there full time at the Good Samaritans independent living apartments where she joined every activity she could from writers groups, painting classes to attending lectures.
She eventually moved to Lyons, Colorado to be closer to her daughter KC and passed away peacefully last Saturday at home surrounded by love. Sharp and funny all the way to the end, she will be missed by all the friends she’s made throughout the years.
